The decor at The Barracks impressed me more than its buffet spread. I appreciated the every little details put into colouring the place with flowers, vintage books and English tea cups that made it felt like in the home of some English family.

The high tea buffet at The Barracks was something I had always wanted to try and I finally got to do it today while enjoying my relax Friday at the beautiful cafe. It was a raining afternoon while we were there between 3 to 5pm. Initial impression was that "there are a lot on the spread" but soon after 1 round of the items we ran out of choices pretty early. Partly because some of the items such as chocolate cakes and cream cupcakes were things you would not take more than 1; while some more popular ones depleted fast on the tables and were not replenished timely. On the whole, I would consider it a "tick on my box" for this while I would still say that it was not too bad.

Always enjoyed my visits to Rakuzen at Millennia and it was a good news that they opened a new outlet at Tampines near the central. Quiet spot and good for me to enjoy dinner!

"Little Part 1"

If not for online food reviews, we would not had discovered this short stretch of shophouses amongst the private residential area next to Thomson Plaza. Situated at Adelphi Park Road, a Little Part 1 Cafe was the only cafe along that stretch, offering a cosy laid-back place to eat, drink and relax. While their food would not be considered outstanding, but they would be popular more for their selection of beer choices. For a person not so into beer, it would just be a tiny little part of my food adventure.

KU DÉ TA Singapore

Enjoying the view from 57th storey skypark was memorable, but dining up there was certainly even better. For a cost, the Tasting Menu at KU DÉ TA was a splendid way to enjoy some of the best of their cuisines at the top of Singapore.

Had gone to Classic Cakes to get its Mille Crepe but ended up choosing this instead as the former was sold out. Was impressed with it as the cake was moist and spongy while its cheese cream was smooth and light.

Awfully Overdose of Chocolate

Had always wanted to try their desserts and tonight we got to do so. Ordered its Cold Poached Chocolate with Kahlua Cream as well as its Super Stack Cake with 黑 Ice Cream. The former was a really a thick slab of rich chocolate while the latter was good for the moist sponging cake, although the dark chocolate ice cream would no longer be a novelty as there were many others of such around nowadays. However, I felt overdosed with chocolate as there was nothing else but chocolate on the plates and simply too much of it. I had to say it was good but too much would be awfully unbearable too.

The one thing that would bring Milo and Caffe together without fail, although I couldn't say always without conflict - treats. That would be when both of them were focused on the treats in front of them instead of each other's proximity. Wished they would learn to do so without the treats.

Decided to dine at Siglap tonight and started reading up on what could be good there. Narrowed down to Megumi Japanese Restaurant had received numerous good reviews. Comparatively, it was indeed the most crowded place along the immediate stretch of restaurants. Their sashimi was fresh and cut was thick and generous. The seafood Maki was recommended, being warm and crunchy when served. Best of the dinner would be the Suki Yaki with Hokubee beef. The soup was sweet and tasty while the beef tender with its fine marble texture. Overall, it was a good dinner although the price a bit on the high side and I would compare it to Shinyu which served Japanese ala carte buffet for a more competitive price.

This would be our many times at the Canopy in Bishan Park, its key appeals - dog-friendly serene alfresco dining with quite good food. I prefer their brunch menu over dinner menu as there were more variety, and their delicious Canopy burger would only be available on the former.

Sat morning was an enjoyable one for ourselves and, I believed, our furkids too. Milo and Caffe met up with their fur friends as the few of us gathered for breakfast followed by dog run at Bishan Park. As always, they met a few new playmates for a running good time. The smiles of all of their faces definitely made our day at the end of it all.

My latest acquisition of the 24-70 F2.8 Carl Zeiss lense marked the next stage of my photography adventure. After much thoughts, I had definitely put my mind onto it and well, I would said the results so far were more than satisfactory. The images were sharper and colour more accurate. The lense also worked wonderfully: fast and focusing was smooth and quiet. This was an investment worthwhile with no regret :)

No Signboard (Chilli Crab)

Had wanted to go for chilli crab at Jumbo Seafood but the outlet at Clarke Quay was too crowded so we decided to settle for No Signboard at Central instead. Yet, it was a decision we never regretted when we discovered the chilli crab sauce there was like no other and what we always wanted. It was spicy the way chilli crab should be, yet not over-powering and with a subtle sweetness in the sauce. And the sauce was of just the right thickness and texture, saturated with eggs nicely spread throughout. No Signboard will be my place for chilli crab henceforth~

This would be a good place to go for nice food paired with wine to complete the whole dining experience. Located at a rather remote corner of Marina Square, it was a humble small restaurant but yet filled with tempting choices on their menu. The most distinct part of their menu was that every item would be paired with some red or white to go along with it. Definitely a gem discovered.

Apart of their food menu, which was rather humble, 1-Caramel was a place more for their desserts delicately prepared and beautifully presented. A choices too many to choose from, their 1-Caramel Assiette platter would be a good start to sample some of the desserts in smaller portion. A good place to pamper yourself with some of the yummiest desserts.

Rochester Park seemed like one place with many hidden gems to be discovered. One such gem would be 1-Caramel on the 2nd level at One Rochester, popular for its brunch and more so for its cupcakes and desserts. The place was small with a limited 18-seat capacity so it would really be recommended to book in advance to avoid long waiting or disappointment not being able to get a table. I had tasted egg benedict at several places and I must say theirs was by far the best to me. Their cupcakes were also sinfully good and was something I would go back for again.

Love the Xing Hua Bee Hoon at Putien for its fine texture. Other highly recommended dishes include its herbal prawn steamed in bamboo and handmade 9-fold braised pig intestines.

Every October of the year would be the hairy crab season in China and here in Singapore, restaurants would bring in this delicacy although for a high price. For a size a quarter of a usual Sri Lanka crab, it would the same. The idea in eating it was really in its roe/egg while there was not much of meat for its small size. So for me, it was really a check-in-the-box and I would still prefer the usual crabs will gigantic claws.

Surprisingly, this was a french grill restaurant, located at the basement of Marina Square, for wine and dine. Its prices were actually quite reasonable and portion of food rather large. I would commend on their steaks that were grilled to perfection, just as its name suggested; although the skewer appetitiser and some of their desserts could be better.

These colourful macaws always caught my eyes whenever I visit Dempsey Hill when they were let out in the open area for public viewing. Impressing the viewers with their brilliant colours, they were not the least afraid when human approached within close distance, but be prepared for loud crows in defense when you get too close for their comfort.

Located at Chip Bee Gardens, this is another Japanese charcoal grill. The food was good as how charcoal grill would be, but I thought its price was on the high side considering the small portions of the ala carte menu. Comparatively, I would prefer Tajimaya at Vivo City for similar type of food.

A newly setup place that specialises in cupcake, and it is by Daniel Ong and Jamie Yeo, named the 12 Cupcakes. I'm not really a fan of cupcake so this was my first try. I had dined at Jones at The Dempsey a couple of times and totally enjoyed myself there. Today, it was breakfast at Jones again but a different location and a totally different experience. It was at Mandarin Gallery in the middle of Orchard Road, where its decor was contemporary and the whole experience felt more chic and refreshing. Also tried different kind of food today and loved their bacon, spinach, tomatoes fused together in a pan with eggs, enjoyed with bread and top-up of mushrooms. Good breakfast!

Buckaroo's was a place I had not gone for a long while, probably for a few years, although it was only situated nearby at Andrews Ave. Still remembered the first time I went I was totally impressed by their grilled portobello mushrooms and caesar salad. However, the second time I went their portion reduced drastically and their quality of food went down. That would explain why it took me so long to finally go back again, and I was pleasantly happy I decided to do so as they re-instilled my confidence in their food. Located next to Woody's but I would say they were way better in every way to Woody's.

Flamingg Mango is one that I always enjoyed, for their tasty food and drinks, friendly service, relaxing ambience and nice music. After that, we proceeded to Woody's not far away too for a drink and some wings. Food and drinks there were not bad, but unfortunately their downfall would have to be their terribly poor service. Dinner at The Botanical Gardens on a Monday could be quite enjoyable without the crowd and the wait to get a table. Disappointed that we could not get to order our longed Buffalo cheese with parma ham dish as they no longer serve it. Damned. So we ordered a salad instead, with parma ham haha! Had their steak again, which was good; and went for their famous pizza. Verdict: Casa Verde definitely lived up to their reputation for good pizza~

This was my 3rd dining experience at Cotton Bleu's. Their food still taste good, only regret after a few visits within a short period was that their variety was running in their menu. I also realised there was really no need to stick to their set, ala carte would still fetch around the same price range but with some variation from the usual starter, dessert other with their mains. My next visit would likely be when they feature some nice specials. But yes, I would definitely go back again.

Xiao Long Bao

Ding Tai Fung serves one of the best Xiao Long Baos in Singapore, at least those at a reasonable price. Every August of the year, you'll find them serving their heavenly chilli crab Xiao Long Bao, yes with the local signature chilli crab sauce. This year, they topped it up with another delicacy - Truffle Xiao Long Bao. Black as it looked when I bit into it, but the strong mushroom aroma of the truffle filled the mouth when the whole thing went into the mouth. Divine~ Pity they were only available for 1 month, and the Truffle one was exlusively at Raffles City and Marina Bay Link Mall branches only.

Had lunch at Din Tai Fung at the Marina Bay Link Mall today and took notice of their decor next to the entrance - strings of paper butterflies hanging that brought a feel of spring to the place. Must say I enjoyed the food as much as taking these butterflies.

For a change, we decided to try the duck confit and lamb burgers at Handburger. The verdict, either you'll love it or hate it. The duck burger, paired with orange marmalade, was sweet but not unusual. For the latter, you'll love it if you are into that distinct taste of lamb. SPC Bishan Dog Run

2nd visit within 1 week was how much I was impressed previously. This week they had the crispy roast pork belly which gave me a good reason to go back for more. Some info you will pick up when you visit the museum gallery at the Orchard ION, which explains the concept behind the architectual design of iconic building. And it is cool to learn that ION got its name from Onion, which is also the inspiration to the shape and curvy lines of the shopping mall. Having known that, it is more apparent how its facade resemble that of an onion's layers peeled.

Yet another wonderful place to eat at Dempsey, the Culina only next to Jones where I like. Although ambience-wise they were pretty close; I felt Culina served more sophisticated dishes, such as their Pan Fried Castaing Foie Gras and their selected range of fresh oysters. I will definitely go back there for more oysters and their steak the next round.

This restaurant is hidden in a quiet little corner of Sembawang (but I shall not say too much :P) and it serves really good food with a wide variety of wine and drinks to go with. Everything there, down to its garlic bread, is so tasty I couldn't get enough of it each time I went. With some time to spare, the place is ideal to sit back, relax, wine and dine for night while enjoying their nice music.

Sat weekend started with roti prata for breakfast and then it was more local foodie at the Ghim Moh hawker centre in the afternoon. The Hainanese chicken rice and fried kway teow were 2 of the several stalls lined with long queue even at past 2pm. But all the wait was definitely worthwhile without much more to explain than from the queues at those stalls.

What we enjoyed was an ingredient-filled beef Ciabatta sandwich with lots of mushrooms, bacon, egg and cheese~ Followed by my all-time favourite Mekajiki sashimi platter complimented by Yuzu Sake and red wine. Wooohhh... it felt good at home!

Had dinner at this new-found place next to Buckeroo's along Andrews Road, named Woody Pub Cafe. Actually it's not new, just that it only gained more visibility lately through an online Groupon promotion. Woody's a Peranakan Fusion restaurant pub, serving a wide variety of western and Nonya food that will go along well their drinks. The place's cosy and comfortable, only that their service tend to get quite slow and messy with bigger crowd. Overall, a nice place to snack and drink on a lazy night when you feel like chilling out to some 70-80's music.

They identify themselves as the place for real coffee people. Situated at level 2 in Liang Court, Trung Nguyen Coffee served really strong and thick brew of drip-coffee. Price can higher than your usual coffee place but it's worth a try, at least for a taste of the Vietnamese coffee.

Had craving for Sashimi and Sushi today after workout and decided to go Tampopo again, where I was first impressed by their serving of Sushi (although now I will recommend Itacho more :P) in Singapore. Compared to the outlet in Taka, I still prefer this one at Liang Court. It still tasted good, but the pork with Foie Gras was even more memorable for today's meal.

Siam station area was definitely the place to go in Bangkok now, with Siam Square, Discovery Centre and Siam Paragon. The extent of entertainment, shopping and F&B in the area would last you the whole day if not more. The attraction had to be the Ocean World at the basement of Siam Paragon which was a visit not to be missed for the marine lovers.

Dining at the Vertigo on top of the Banyan Tree truly marked the Banyan Tree Bangkok experience a memorable one. Rooftop alfresco dining under the stars at the breezy top of 61 storeys felt like nothing before. Although the price was on the high side, it was all worthwhile for an experience that was going to stay for a while. It was the best meal in Bangkok, especially since I was down with a throat infection subsequently and living on soft diet.

The Banyan Tree Bangkok was a comfortable stay over the weekend, with an unblock view overlooking the city skyline of Bangkok. Fortunately there was a discount voucher to the otherwise pricey cost.

A walk along the Punggol riverside to enjoy the peace and nature. Only if there were less people and it would had been so perfect.

Along the Boardwalk

The Punggol boardwalk by its riverside is a good place to walk your dogs as it is clean and wide enough for them to walk beside the human. Its natural surrounding was also a beautiful background for Milo and Caffe to pose for a few shots. Joining them that evening was Joy a newborn member to a friend's family.

A second visit to Frienzie Bistro & Bar for dinner. It's situated by the Punggol Riverside boardwalk, a food cluster slowly coming up in a remote corner of Punggol neighbourhood. The ambience there was good, service's a little slow when the crowd built up. Food was decent although I wouldn't say it was fantastic. But overall, a nice relaxing place to chill out in the night.

Hatched located at Evans Road, ulu but you'll be surprised how long you'll have to wait for a table if you didn't book in advance, just for a meal with eggs, eggs and more eggs. They specialise in eggs cooked in various ways. I had my favourite Egg Benedict, Caesar salad with poached egg and an oven-baked cheese egg. Not bad when you feel like eggs for a relaxing weekend breakfast.

Discovered yet another dog-friendly venue to enjoy nice food at, the District10 Bar & Bistro at Winstedt Road. Believed the furkids enjoyed the place cos I certainly did.

Casa Verde

A recommended venue to bring your furkid out for a good meal with - the Casa Verde at the Singapore Botanical Garden. I tasted the best mozzerella cheese with parma ham there. And their steak was no frill yet tasty which left me wanting more.

Feb 11, Chinese New Year in Japan. The memories were beautiful. Looking back now, felt fortunate that I visited the country before the fateful Tsunami hit it on 11 Mar 11, while sad that parts of the place had since been affected. Bless the people and the place.

Had a good Christmas Eve dinner at the Asmara Canopy in Bishan Park. Savoured their Christmas special set next to the live performance. Although tucked away in the park, the place was lively with crowd at the restaurant and their bar.
